Free intro to Ballroom Dance benefit class on Wednesday, Jan 19th!

The Granite Falls High School, 1st ever Competitive Ballroom formation team will be hosting a benefit night Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 in the High School Commons from 7-8:30pm. Come meet, and mix and mingle with the team, as well as get a free dance lesson from Ballroom Instructor and Coach; Josh Roehl. Any donations would be gladly accepted to help provide the team a way to get to the Gem state Amateur Ballroom Dance competition in Idaho Falls, Idaho February 25th-26th 2011; the teams’ first competition. Everyone is welcome to attend, lessons best suited for ages 12 and older.

Ballroom dance club: The ballroom dance club is a group of 30-40 high school students that meet twice a week for an hour after school. There, they learn the various American and International styles of ballroom dance, but they also learn appropriate dance etiquette musicality and history behind the dances. So far this year, the members of the club have already learned International Cha-Cha, Rumba, and Waltz, Lindy-Hop, West Coast and East Coast Swing, and Charleston dances.

Josh Roehl: Ballroom Dance Instructor and coach graduated from BYU-Idaho with a degree in Spanish and a minor in Ballroom Dance. He has competed on the Ballroom Tour Teams’ Win in the international standard, latin and show dance categories at the Snowball classic in Vancouver British Columbia. He has also won competitions in Mambo, East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, West Coast Swing, Samba, Rumba, American Waltz, Tango, and Foxtrot. He is currently certified through Prodivida.
